End of the Semester

leave a comment »

With just a couple final exams left and about a week till I’m home, my first semester of college is pretty much over. I thought I would have a lot of adjusting after going to a 4oo student high school and an equally small grade school, but it didn’t seem like a big difference at all. While the first couple weeks went by really slow, after that, the semester just flew.

I love that you change classes every semester. By the time January rolled around in high school, I was tired of most of my classes. This way, it’ll stay different and I’ll stay interested. Next semester, I’m taking a couple Anthropology classes, finishing my general education and I’m starting to learn Arabic. I’m much more excited than I was about this semester since I finally get to start getting more involved with my major (or majors… I’m considering double majoring in Anthropology and Political Science).

Anyway, I’m going home next Thursday. First item on my agenda? Getting the upstairs prepared for Christmas… we’re busting out the string lights! Then I’ll start getting gift ideas together.

And finally, I’d like to gift everyone with the culmination of all my spanish skills that I learned. I took probably my final Spanish class this semester, and I figured I’d leave my favorite line: Todos los Martes, los osos comen la lluvia ácida y ellos causan la deforestación.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

with one comment

I’m at Altiora right now (my favorite local coffeehouse) and sipping a rather delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte. That fall exclusive, along with a hot Apple Cider, are amazing.

Just to let all you Northern Kentuckians know that you should probably stop by and try it out.

I suck at Bowling!

leave a comment »

I started bowling about three years ago. I play off and on, mostly with friends in the winter. We are the definition of casual bowling (we scream and jump on each other when we get strikes) and usually, we have a good time in the smoke infested bowling alley.

Entering my third season of bowling, I am starting to get frustrated. Never, in my years of playing, have I improved. Every once in while, I’ll experience a moment of greatness, and my score will soar above, say, the 110 mark. But normally, I’m a sub 100 bowler. And it drives me insane. I have no aim, no real strategy to speak of. Maybe that’s part of the problem. I just try to hit the side of the head pin.

I’m assured in my belief that one day, while waiting for my 10 pins to be set, something will click. I place it perfectly between the little marking that are supposed to guide me, and I’ll watch as the ball travels towards it destination it can’t avoid: a strike. And it’ll happen several times. And I’ll be happy.

Sawdust

leave a comment »

It’s always a great day when a new Killers album is released, and today is one of those days. Although not really a new album, Sawdust features songs they did over their last 2 albums but never saw the light of day. There are 18 songs and I’ve heard about 8 of them before, which leaves 10 new ones.  Tranquilize, Shadowplay, and Move Around are probably my three favorites. Plus, I think it’s a couple dollars cheaper when you download it drm-free from Amazon, instead of with drm from iTunes.
